Una scuola dalla lunga tradizione
Il Galilei è una scuola storica, nel senso che ha un lungo passato e una tradizione consolidata. Ha raggiunto poco tempo fa due importanti traguardi: 40 anni di vita dell’edificio che ospita la sede attuale, inaugurato nel 1971 e quello dei 50 anni dalla sua nascita come scuola superiore di studi tecnici, compleanno che è caduto nell’anno scolastico 2011/2012. La prima classe Commerciale venne aperta in P.za Conte Rosso, nell'Avigliana storica, per l’anno scolastico 1961/62. Era una piccola classe mista di ragazzi e ragazze. La scuola era la succursale del prestigioso Istituto Commerciale G. Sommeiller di Torino. Dopo due anni venne inaugurato il corso per Geometri. I primi studenti venivano non solo da Avigliana ma anche dai paesi vicini, persino da Bardonecchia. Dagli anni sessanta a oggi l’istituto ha diplomato altre 5000 studenti, la piena autonomia è stata ottenuta nel 1970.

A school with a long tradition
Galilei is a historical school, in the sense that it has a long past and a consolidated tradition. It recently reached two important milestones: 40 years of life of the building that houses the current headquarters, inaugurated in 1971 and that of 50 years since its birth as a high school of technical studies, a birthday that fell in the 2011 school year / 2012. The first commercial class was opened in P.za Conte Rosso, in the historic Avigliana, for the 1961/62 school year. It was a small mixed class of boys and girls. The school was the branch of the prestigious G. Sommeiller Commercial Institute of Turin. After two years the course for surveyors was inaugurated. The first students came not only from Avigliana but also from neighboring villages, even from Bardonecchia. From the sixties to today, the institute has graduated another 5,000 students, full autonomy was obtained in 1970.
